Telus Celebrates Earth Day with Tree-Planting Phone Deal
To mark Earth Month 2025, Telus is introducing two new eco-friendly programs to support reforestation efforts in Canada, citing the extreme wildfires we’ve seen over the past two years.
From April 17 to May 15, Telus will plant a tree in a wildfire-affected area for every new or certified pre-owned Android device purchased by a new or returning customer (what about iPhone?!). Customers who trade in an old device during this promotion will trigger the planting of a second tree. This offer is available in select Telus and Koodo stores, online, and through customer service.
In the past, we’ve seen Telus offer a similar tree planting initiative, such as the one from a few years ago that applied only to purchases of pre-owned smartphones online.
Also, on Earth Day (April 22), Telus will begin selling limited-edition tote bags made from 100% recycled cotton. The $3 bags will be available at Telus retail locations across Canada, and each purchase will fund the planting of one tree.
Telus says reforestation can accelerate the regrowth of wildfire-damaged forests by up to 25%, based on recent research, citing a study from the U.S. Depart of Agriculture.
To date, Telus says it has planted over 19 million trees and kept 15 million devices out of landfills, including 4 million that were upcycled or recycled.
