PlayStation Plus has unveiled its lineup of free games for May 2025, including dinosaur survival adventure Ark: Survival Ascended, the roguelike deck-builder Balatro, and the retro-inspired first-person shooter Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun.
These game titles will be available for download to PS Plus subscribers from May 6 through June 2.
Ark: Survival Ascended (PS5)
Ark: Survival Ascended is a comprehensive remake of the original Ark: Survival Evolved, rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5. This version boasts enhanced graphics, advanced physics, and quality-of-life improvements.
Players can explore expansive environments, tame and breed a variety of prehistoric creatures, and engage in survival gameplay. It supports online multiplayer for up to 70 players, private sessions for up to 8, and local split-screen for 2 players.
Balatro (PS4, PS5)
Balatro is a roguelike deck-building game that combines poker mechanics with strategic gameplay. Players create powerful synergies by combining valid poker hands with unique joker cards, aiming to earn enough chips to overcome increasingly challenging blinds.
The game offers a variety of hidden bonus hands and decks to discover, providing depth and replayability. Recognized as one of the standout indie games of 2024, Balatro has been praised for its addictive gameplay and innovative design.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun (PS4, PS5)
This fast-paced, retro-style first-person shooter lets players take on the role of a battle-hardened Space Marine, battling against Chaos Space Marines and daemons across various levels. The game draws inspiration from classic 90s shooters, featuring sprite-based visuals and frenetic combat.
Warhammer’s blend of modern gameplay mechanics with nostalgic aesthetics offers a unique experience for fans of the genre.
Subscribers have until May 5 to download April’s PlayStation Plus Essential offerings, which include RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory.
Once claimed, these games remain accessible as long as the subscription remains active.
