Cogeco Blames Rogers for Sportsnet App Login Outage During Playoffs
Cogeco customers have been unable to sign in to the Sportsnet app and the web since at least April 12, with the issue still unresolved nearly a month later.
The problem? Cogeco has disappeared as a selectable TV provider in the app’s login screen. The outage prevents customers from streaming live sports—including NHL playoff games—through the app. There’s also no Blue Jays baseball either with Sportsnet gone.
Frustrated users took to Reddit and social media to report the problem, with some calling it “pathetic” given the timing during major sports events. One user wrote: “I want to watch playoff hockey!”
Cogeco has confirmed the issue multiple times, most recently telling customers on X as of May 1, “We’re currently experiencing issues with the Sportsnet app platform not displaying Cogeco as a selectable provider. Our teams are actively working with the app owners to restore access as soon as we can. You can continue to access Sportsnet content using the live channels while we work to resolve this issue.”
Earlier, on April 21, Cogeco said a recent app update from Rogers appeared to be the cause. The error seems to be on Rogers’ end, a support representative told customers.
While some users say they were offered a partial credit, Cogeco has not formally announced compensation or posted public details about reimbursement. For now, customers are told to tune in through regular TV channels until app access is restored. No ETA has been provided on a fix. Have you been dealing with Sportsnet missing as a login option as a Cogeco customer?
