Microsoft Introduces New AI-Powered Copilot+ PCs
Microsoft has unveiled two new additions to its Copilot+ PC lineup: the Surface Pro 12-inch and the Surface Laptop 13-inch, aiming to deliver AI-enhanced computing in more compact and affordable form factors.

Surface Pro 12-Inch
The Surface Pro 12-inch is a versatile 2-in-1 device designed for users who prioritize mobility. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus 8-core processor, it features 16GB of RAM and offers storage options of 256GB or 512GB.
The 12-inch PixelSense display boasts a 2196 x 1464 resolution with a 90Hz refresh rate, maintaining the signature 3:2 aspect ratio of the Surface line. Notably, the Surface Pro 12-inch adopts a fan-less design, contributing to its lightweight and slim profile. It replaces the proprietary Surface Connect port with two USB-C 3.2 ports, enhancing connectivity options.
The device supports AI-driven features such as Recall and advanced Windows search, thanks to its integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU).
Surface Laptop 13-Inch
The new 13-inch Surface Laptop offers a balance between portability and performance. Equipped with the same Snapdragon X Plus processor and 16GB of RAM, it provides storage options of 256GB and 512GB. The 13-inch display has a resolution of 1920 x 1280 at 60Hz.
While it lacks HDR support, the device compensates with a sleek design and a battery life of up to 23 hours of video playback. In terms of connectivity, the Surface Laptop 13-inch includes two USB-C 3.2 ports, a USB-A 3.1 port, and a headphone jack. It forgoes Windows Hello facial recognition in favor of a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
The device also supports Copilot+ features, enabling users to leverage AI capabilities for enhanced productivity.

Both the Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch are set to launch on May 20, 2025, with starting prices of $799 and $899, respectively in the U.S. These devices are aimed at students, professionals, and users seeking affordable yet capable PCs that integrate AI functionalities. Business versions will be available starting July 22.
