Fortnite Submitted to the U.S. App Store for Review
Epic Games announced on Friday morning Fortnite is one step closer to coming back to the App Store.
“We’ve submitted Fortnite to Apple for review so we can launch on the App Store in the U.S.”, said Fortnite on X.
This puts the ball back in Apple’s court to approve the game for the iPhone and more. Earlier this month, a California court found Apple in violation of a 2021 injunction over how it blocked third-party payments inside apps. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said at the time “we will return Fortnite to the U.S. App Store next week”.
Sweeney also proposed a global settlement: if Apple applies its no-fee policy worldwide, Epic would bring Fortnite back to iOS everywhere and end all related legal proceedings. Touché.
So will Fortnite be available in Canada? For now, if Fortnite hits the U.S. App Store, Canadians will be able to download it by signing into their U.S. Apple Account.
“Apple’s 15-30% junk fees are now just as dead here in the United States as they are in Europe,” said Sweeney, referring to the EU’s Digital Markets Act.
