Keach Hagey’s Sam Altman Biography ‘The Optimist’ Audiobook Launches on Spotify

Keach Hagey’s highly anticipated biography of Sam Altman and OpenAI, titled The Optimist, is now available on Spotify. The audiobook is being distributed on Spotify’s audiobook segment as well as other audiobook platforms under Spotify AudiobooksSpotify’s in-house publishing imprint.

The Optimist hails from the Wall Street Journal reporter Keach Hagey. It is the first biography to pull the curtain back on Altman and the rise of OpenAI. The audiobook goes as far back as to detail Atlman’s childhood in St. Louis through to his first failed startup business. It then continues to detail Altman’s time as a power broker in Silicon Valley and OpenAI’s founding.

Hagey is said to have conducted more than 250 interviews with Altman’s family, friends, teachers, mentors, co-founders, colleagues, investors, and portfolio companies. On top of that, Hagey and Altman spent copious amount of time together in order for The Optimist to paint as accurate a picture as possible.

The Optimist‘s audiobook is narrated by Will Damron, who has voiced over 700 titles across a variety of genres.

As part of Spotify Premium, member has 15 hours of monthly audiobook listening at their disposal. The catalogue of Spotify’s audiobooks covers everything from biographies to fiction and other non-fiction works.

On top of that, Spotify Audiobooks is Spotify’s in-house audiobook publishing imprint. The company has a growing partnership with publishers and authors to produce and distribute audiobooks to millions worldwide. Currently, more than 150 titles across various genres are under Spotify’s licensing arm. This includes Two Can Play by Ali Hazelwood and Playground by Richard Powers.
