Apple Rebrands macOS, iOS and More with Year-Based Names

At WWDC 2025, Apple unveiled its new “Liquid Glass” design, a major user interface overhaul for iOS 26 and other operating systems like macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS.
This redesign introduces a sleek, translucent aesthetic with glossy, glass-like elements, transparency effects, and layered depth, inspired by the Vision Pro’s visionOS, aiming to create a unified, immersive experience across Apple’s ecosystem.
Alongside this, Apple announced a new naming convention, adopting a year-based approach, resulting in iOS 26, macOS 26, and similar designations to streamline versioning and enhance consistency across platforms.
So this fall we will have:
- iOS 26
- watchOS 26
- tvOS 26
- macOS 26
- visionOS 26
- iPadOS 26

…developing, more to follow
