Feel the Speed With First-Ever Haptic Trailer for F1 Movie [VIDEO]

Apple Original Films has just raised the adrenaline meter with its first-ever haptic-enabled trailer for F1: The Movie, a high-stakes racing drama starring Brad Pitt as former Formula One star Sonny Hayes.

Available exclusively in the Apple TV app on iPhones running iOS 18.4 or later, viewers can now physically feel the revving engines and steering-action through synchronized vibrations delivered via the Taptic Engine.

As the trailer unfolds, the intense hum of F1 engines is echoed through precise haptic pulses in users’ hands. Subtle touches, like a seatbelt snapping or a ping-pong ball bouncing, also trigger nuanced vibration effects, immersing audiences more deeply than ever before. It marks a bold, first-time move by Apple to pair tactile feedback with cinematic storytelling.

Directed by Top Gun: Maverick helmer Joseph Kosinski and produced by heavyweights like Jerry Bruckheimer and Lewis Hamilton, F1 is positioned as Apple’s most ambitious theatrical release to date. The film explores redemption on the track, with Sonny Hayes coaxed out of retirement by ex-teammate and team owner Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem) to mentor rising rookie Joshua “Noah” Pearce (Damson Idris).

Apple is sparing no effort to capture authenticity. Pitt, Idris, and actual F1 drivers clocked laps at speeds topping 180 mph during training, and many sequences were filmed live during Grand Prix events. It was an adrenaline rush every weekend,” Kosinski told People—who added that Pitt is “a natural athlete” behind the wheel.

This haptic trailer isn’t just a gimmick—it’s a strategy. Apple has invested heavily in marketing: TV app feature placement, a WWDC 2025 keynote reveal, multiple trailers and IMAX-friendly content, plus a product tie-in with Apple TV+.

Beyond haptics and star power, F1 is tapping into racing’s huge fan base and cinematic trends. Producers secured unprecedented access to F1 events and worked with the FIA, and real-world drivers make cameo appearances .

With Lewis Hamilton among the executive producers ensuring technical accuracy, the film targets both mass-market appeal and dedicated motorsport enthusiasts.

It's pretty neat. I would imagine if the haptics can be implemented on Airpods Max, that would feel even more real.
