iOS 26 Beta 2 Makes Changes to Liquid Glass Control Center Amidst Complaints

Apple is making changes to its iOS 26 Liquid Glass UI on its Control Center as part of the second software beta. Following initial complaints that the UI was far too transparent, Control Center’s use of Liquid Glass is now more opaque.
This is all thanks to the latest iOS 26 Beta 2, which is now available to Apple Developers. First reported on by 9to5Mac, Apple is introducing some new changes and tweaks to the unreleased iOS update. This includes changing the transparency of the Liquid Glass UI when interacting with Control Center.
Liquid Glass, by design, gives users a semi-transparent look across the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Control Center. It was first introduced during WWDC 2025 and was largely inspired by visionOS. With its glass-like design, everything, from text to navigation features, has an elegant frosted appearance. However, once users got a chance to go hands-on with iOS 26, a glaring issue was discovered regarding Control Center.
The UI allowed for far too much of a transparent look when interacting with Control Center. App icons in the background would stand out too much. Despite Apple applying a subtle blur effect to the background, it muddied up the visuals when using the Liquid Glass UI. Thankfully, iOS 26 Beta 2 makes an effort to address this. Apple has added more of a blur effect, making it harder to be distracted by the background icons. It’s far from perfect, but a step in the right direction.
iOS 26 Beta 2 also introduces other changes like the ‘Alt 1’ ringtone. Available under ‘Reflections’, the new ring tone can be used. There is also the iOS 26 wallpaper, which uses a parallax effect. This was not available in the first beta.
iOS 26 is expected to become available to all users later this fall, around the time Apple introduces this year’s flagship iPhone.
