Yale Debuts Matter‑Enabled Smart Lock for Google Home
Yale has just introduced its latest smart lock engineered specifically for the Google Home ecosystem and certified as the first “Google Home Preferred” lock.

This new full-replacement deadbolt adds a modern twist with Matter-over-Thread support, ensuring seamless integration with platforms like Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant.
Designed to work hand-in-hand with Google’s Nest video doorbells, the new Yale Smart Lock allows users to manage passcodes, monitor lock activity, and receive live status updates, all within the Google Home app. Designed to work hand-in-hand with Google’s Nest video doorbells, the new Yale Smart Lock allows users to manage passcodes, monitor lock activity, and receive live status updates.
Available in white, black, and a third gray option later this fall, the lock replaces your existing deadbolt with a built-in keypad and mechanical keyway. It is powered by four standard AA batteries, and can last up to 12 months.
The lock can also connect via Bluetooth using Yale’s Access app or utilize a Matter-enabled Thread hub (e.g., Nest Hub, Nest Wi‑Fi Pro, Google TV) for voice control and advanced features. For home networks lacking Thread, users can add Yale’s Connect Wi‑Fi bridge.
Although it lacks the auto-unlock feature of some competing models, it does include auto-lock functionality, benefitting those who prioritize security. And unlike the discontinued Nest × Yale lock, this one reintroduces a physical key option.

Priced at $189.99 in the U.S., a Yale spokesperson has confirmed to iPhoneinCanada that this new smart lock will officially arrive in Canada in July.

I like the Schlage Encode Plus with ability to tap to unlock, but this one is about $100 cheaper.
