Staples Trade-in by Allstate Launches in Canada

Staples’ Trade-in by Allstate program is launching in Canada this week. In partnership with Allstate, Canadians can now go to Staples to trade in old electronics to receive e-gift cards.
The partnership between Staples and Allstate is designed to help raise awareness of the impact of e-waste as the back-to-school season approaches. The new program is in effect now, offering a fast and convenient way for Canadians to trade in old smartphones, laptops, and tablets.
Customers will be asked a small series of questions regarding their old electronics online. Afterwards, they’ll be given a quote. If accepted, the piece of tech can then be traded for a Staples e-gift card. This gift card can be applied to in-store purchases at any Staples location in Canada. E-gift cards are issued immediately. However, Staples does require a credit card on file for pre-authorization.
The electronic can then be dropped off at the customer’s local Staples location or shipped directly to Allstate using a prepaid shipping label. Customers will have a week to ship out their device.
“We’re committed to making it easier for customers to access the latest technology in a smarter, more sustainable way,” Rachel Huckle, CEO, Staples Canada, says in a press release. “With Staples Trade-in by Allstate, we’re offering a simple solution that supports customers in upgrading their devices while reducing electronic waste – helping them work, learn and live more sustainably.”
Staples and Allstate have a pre-existing past together. The two have been partnering to offer Staples Protection Plans by Allstate. This offers coverage across laptops, smartphones, tablets, and even headphones. Big-ticket office supplies like printers, chairs, and furniture can also be covered.
