OpenAI to Launch Web Browser and is Expected in the Coming Weeks

OpenAI is planning to launch its own AI-driven web browser. Taking on the likes of Safari, Firefox, and Chrome, the new web browser will use AI to assist users.

According to a recent report from Reuters, the AI web browser from OpenAI is “close” to being ready to launch. It’s believed that the browser will make its way to the market within the coming weeks. It’s claimed that OpenAI will have access to web search data that Google’s Chrome has been leveraging in order to maintain market dominance.  It’s said that OpenAI approached Google to use search data to assist with SearchGPT, but Google refused to play nice.

The report claims that OpenAI’s web browser won’t exactly mimic a traditional browser like Safari or Chrome. Instead of directing users to websites, OpenAI’s browser will offer ChatGPT-like functions, offering users answers to their queries. It’s also believed that the browser will integrate Operator and other AI agent products, so the browser can make reservations and filling forms for the user.

OpenAI leverages SearchGPT in a similar way that Google uses information from Chrome to impact targeted ads. Chrome’s Google Search functionality is also deeply embedded. OpenAI’s desire to follow in Google’s footsteps feels like a natural evolutionary next step for SearchGPT.

It sounds as if the web browser is well on its way to being complete in some form or fashion. There’s no indication of whether OpenAI will launch its browser with a limited user base prior to a wider rollout. However, considering that reports believe the browser could be ready in a matter of weeks, we won’t be waiting long until we know more concrete information from the company.
