Freedom Mobile has refreshed its wireless plans as part of a its annual Back to School promos, quietly increasing data limits across many tiers while introducing new high-end options and updating its international roaming coverage.
The big change? More data for the same price, especially for customers paying $49 or more per month. For example, Freedom’s $49/month plan now includes 100GB of full-speed data, up from 80GB, while keeping the same 15GB of Roam Beyond data for international travel.
The $59/month plan has been bumped up to 150GB from 100GB, with 25GB Roam Beyond, plus support for tablet and smartwatch lines.
Two new top-tier plans were also added. The $69/month option offers 200GB and 30GB Roam Beyond, while the $79/month plan gives 250GB and 35GB Roam Beyond. Both include lines for tablet and watch connectivity.
Entry-level options like the $29 and $34 plans (offering 5GB and 10GB, respectively) remain unchanged, but now look less appealing compared to the improved value in the $49+ range. The $39/month plan still includes 60GB and 5GB of one-time Roam Beyond data.
Roam Beyond, Freedom’s international roaming feature, also received a quiet upgrade. Most plans saw a bump in their international data allowance, and coverage expanded from 100 to 120+ countries, now including destinations like Japan, Brazil, England, Iraq, Malaysia, and more.
All Freedom 5G+ plans still include unlimited talk, text, and data (with throttled speeds after your cap) across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico, along with global picture/video messaging and a “Price Freeze Promise.” A minimum three-month commitment now applies to most mid- and high-tier plans.
One caveat: customers coming from older plans should check if their previous pricing included temporary discounts. In some cases, those on a limited-time $5 discount might find the new plans slightly more expensive long-term, even with the data increase.
If you’re currently on an older Freedom plan, it may be worth reviewing your data usage and roaming habits. The new options could offer better value — especially for frequent travelers.
