LEGO has officially revealed its Game Boy set, made in collaboration with Nintendo. The 421-piece set is made to replicate the original gaming handheld with a near 1:1 scale. The set also ships with buildable Game Boy Game Pak cartridges for Super Mario Land and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
LEGO and Nintendo revealed the Game Boy set on social media last night. The new set is currently available to preorder for $79.99 in Canada and is expected to begin shipping on October 1, 2025.
The Game Boy’s dimensions are said to be 5.5 x 3.5 x 1 inches, replicating the overall size and scale of the Game Boy handheld. The set is paired with an accurate D-pad plus fuchsia-coloured A and B buttons. There are also small Start and Select buttons built into the set. On the side of the device, LEGO has built in the contrast and volume adjusting dials. The set also has accurate text on it as well, reading “Nintendo GAME BOY tm.”
The set also ships with three displays for the Game Boy. The first of which is the classic Nintendo start screen. The other two are gameplay images of Super Mario Land and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
Much like the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System, the Game Boy set is designed to speak to the nostalgic side of builders as well as fans of the Nintendo legacy. Much like its NES counterpart, this new set is designed to be built and then put on display on a shelf somewhere in the home. The attention to detail, as well as sheer novelty, is a delight to see.
