Gemini App Rolls Out Interactive AI Study Tools for Students
Google has just unveiled a new suite of Gemini app enhancements designed to make learning smarter, more engaging, and interactive for students beginning the new academic year.

These capabilities build on the free Google AI Pro offer available to eligible students and represent a fresh push by Google to support education through AI.
Google is offering college students in select countries, including the U.S., Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, and Brazil, a free 12‑month subscription to the AI Pro tier. That package offers Gemini 2.5 Pro, 2TB of Google‑Drive‑backed storage, Deep Research for custom educational reports, NotebookLM for organizing coursework, Veo 3 for short video generation from text or images, and enhanced coding support with Jules.
Those who sign up by October 6, 2025, and meet eligibility, can take advantage of the full feature set at no cost.
A major new feature launching today is Guided Learning. Rather than simply supplying an answer, this conversational mode acts like an AI tutor by walking students through complex subjects step by step. It adapts its explanations to match how learners respond, helping users uncover underlying principles and build stronger comprehension.
Gemini will also now automatically embed high‑quality visuals, such as diagrams or relevant YouTube videos, into responses. When a user asks about biology, history, or physics concepts, the model integrates helpful images or clips to make the explanation more intuitive and memorable.
Additional study aids include automated flashcards and custom study guides. Users can upload quiz results or other class materials into the app, and Gemini will generate review tools tailored to key concepts.

Google’s larger education strategy includes a three‑year, $1‑billion commitment to support AI training at over 100 U.S. colleges, including major public university systems like Texas A&M and UNC. The initiative supplies institutions with cloud credits, funding, and free access to advanced AI tools.
