Wealthsimple Launches Summer Margin Match With Up to 2% Bonus
Toronto-based Wealthsimple is offering investors a chance to earn up to 2% back on qualifying transfers through its Summer Margin Match 2025 promotion.
The deal is open to both new and existing clients who register for the offer through the Wealthsimple app, website, or via an invitation. Once registered, participants have 30 days to move at least $25,000 in eligible assets into a Wealthsimple Self-directed Investing, Managed Investing, or Crypto account.
Transfers from cash deposits, e-Transfers, or internal Wealthsimple accounts won’t count. Most institutional transfers are eligible.
The promotion pays:
- 2% match for non-registered accounts with margin enabled and an existing margin debit balance of at least $10,000 that was created before Aug. 5, 2025.
- 1% match for all other eligible accounts, including RRSP, TFSA, RESP, FHSA, corporate, RRIF, LIF, LIRA, and crypto accounts.
The bonus is paid monthly over 12 months. For example, a qualifying $100,000 margin account with a $50,000 margin debit balance, plus a $20,000 RRSP transfer, would earn a total of $2,200 ($183.33 monthly).
Wealthsimple is also offering a margin interest rebate, giving 0% interest for one month on up to $10,000 of margin debit balance in a new or margin-enabled non-registered account. The rebate is reimbursed in early October or one month after funding, whichever comes later.
Bonuses are deposited into a Wealthsimple chequing account in Canadian dollars. The company says it may withhold payments or remove clients from the promotion if it suspects attempts to game the system.
