Apple “Likely” to Raise Prices for iPhone 17, According to Analyst

Apple is said to be “likely” to increase the prices of the unannounced iPhone 17 when compared to the current iPhone 16. GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu believes prices for iPhone 17 may be higher than expected, at least in the US.

As first reported by MacRumorsPu published a recent research note in which he attributes the expected price hike as a result of the US tariffs that are being imposed on imported products from countries including China and India.  These countries are core components in Apple’s supply chain as the iPhone is assembled in each one. Apple faces tariffs on devices and products imported, which would include the iPhone 17.

Apple is currently paying a 20 percent tariff on iPhones imported from China. However, according to The Wall Street Journal, Apple is not paying any tariffs on iPhones imported from India. However, given the Trump administration’s track record, these policies and tariffs change on a frequent basis.

Wall Street analysts estimate iPhone 17 prices may increase by upwards of $50 to $100 USD (around $68 to $137 CAD). However, these figures are unsubstantiated and are merely speculation. There’s also no guarantee that any price increase to the US market will also be reflected in Canada.

In Canada, the iPhone 16 series currently starts at $1,129. The base model starts with 128GB of storage. However, Apple introduced the iPhone 16 to the market at $1,449 in September of last year. This was the same introduction price as the iPhone 15 a year prior.

If Apple does indeed begin to raise prices (in the US only or otherwise), we don’t know how Apple will spin it to be more customer-friendly. It’s been widely rumoured that the iPhone 17 Pro may have increased storage from 128GB to 256GB, bringing it in line with the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

"There’s also no guarantee that any price increase to the US market will also be reflected in Canada."

Lmao we all know they are going to increase their prices worldwide, "tariffs" is just the new excuse, even tho its only for US imports.
