Apple TV Jacks Up Prices Again. Canada Next?

Apple just raised the monthly price of Apple TV to $14.99 US from $12.99 US, effective Friday, August 28 for new and existing subscribers, according to Variety. The annual plan is now $119 US, up from $99 US, and existing subscribers will be notified about one month before they are charged the new rate.

That is the fourth hike in four years, and the U.S. monthly fee has now tripled from the $4.99 US launch price in 2019. Apple is also lifting the Apple One individual plan from $19.95 US to $21.95 US per month.

Canada is still $14.99 CAD a month on Apple.ca and tv.apple.com/ca today, the same number as the new U.S. price but a different currency, and Apple One plans still start at $22.95 CAD. Apple last moved the standalone Canadian plan on August 21, 2025, from $12.99 CAD to $14.99 CAD, and the August 5 Ted Lasso Season 4 post still had Canada at $14.99 a month.

The $14.99 US rate is about $22 CAD, so a Canadian standalone plan is still cheaper than paying the new U.S. price. The real question is whether Apple follows here again the way it did in August 2025.

That August 2025 hike left the annual plan and Apple One unchanged, with existing monthly subscribers seeing the new rate 30 days after their next renewal. Apple TV now has more than 300 originals, and Netflix, HBO Max, and Disney+ have all hiked in the last couple of years too.

Apple already moved on services here on July 17, 2026, when Apple Music and Apple One monthly prices went up in Canada, and that same piece noted hardware price hikes on the iMac, iPad, and Apple TV boxes from memory shortages.
