Microsoft ROG Xbox Ally Handhelds Release October 16
Microsoft and ASUS have confirmed that their new handheld gaming PCs, the ROG Xbox Ally and the high performance ROG Xbox Ally X, will arrive in stores globally on October 16 2025.

Gamers can look forward to two models that cater to different needs. The core Ally model is powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 chip with 16 GB of memory 512 GB of solid-state storage and a 60 Wh battery. It targets players seeking value and portability while still delivering strong performanc.
For those chasing top tier specs, the Ally X raises the bar with an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor 24 GB of RAM a 1 TB SSD and a larger 80 Wh battery for longer gaming sessions.
Display technology is consistent across both variants featuring a 7-inch full-high-definition IPS screen that runs at 120 Hz with variable refresh rate for smooth visuals. The Ally supports gameplay around 720 p resolution while the Ally X is built for crisp 1080 p gaming.
To help users understand game support both companies have launched a Handheld Compatibility Program that marks titles as either Handheld Optimized or Mostly Compatible so gamers know what to expect on day one. In addition the Xbox app will preload shaders during download so supported games launch faster run smoother and even reduce battery usage on first play.
On the Ally X ASUS has built in AI features that will arrive early next year. One major addition is Automatic Super Resolution which upscales games running at lower resolution to deliver higher quality visuals effortlessly.

While the release date and regions are confirmed, price and preorder details are yet to be made public. Leaks indicate US prices around $549.99 for the base model and $899.99 for the Ally X with preorders expected to begin during Gamescom.
The two handhelds will launch simultaneously across a vast list of markets, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and more with China to receive just the Ally model early next year.
