OpenAI Unveils New Jobs Platform to Certify AI Workers

OpenAI is launching its new Jobs Platform and on app Certifications program, aimed at connecting AI trained individuals with employers and certifying 10 million Americans by 2030.

OpenAI has emphasized that the majority of its hundreds of millions of weekly users on ChatGPT use the platform at no cost. This free foundation is critical to the company’s commitment to making advanced AI tools available to as many people as possible.

But equal focus is placed on teaching people how to use those tools effectively, enabling them to become more productive, shape their surroundings and take control of their career paths, says the company. The jobs platform will not only cater to large enterprises but will also include a dedicated track to support local businesses and public sector employers.

Organizations such as Walmart, John Deere, Boston Consulting Group, Accenture, Indeed, the Texas Association of Business, the Bay Area Council, and several state agencies including Delaware have joined as launch partners. Their involvement ensures that the skills taught and job matches made reflect real world employer needs.

In parallel, OpenAI is transforming its Academy into a certification engine. It will offer credentials spanning basic AI literacy to advanced AI custom roles and prompt engineering. Individuals will study for these certifications directly inside ChatGPT, via Study mode, without leaving the app.

Companies, including Walmart, will be able to integrate these certifications into their internal training and learning programs. OpenAI has committed to certifying 10 million Americans by 2030.

These new efforts support concurrent wider work at OpenAI to expand AI literacy across society. By aligning access tools with credentials and matching opportunities to proven skills, the company aims to ensure AI benefits reach a diverse array of people, not just a few.
