Apple Unveils iPhone Air: Thinnest iPhone Ever at 5.6mm With A19 Pro Chip

Apple has introduced a brand-new addition to its lineup, the iPhone Air, which it describes as “the future of iPhone design.” The rumoured iPhone 17 Air moniker didn’t come true.

At just 5.6 millimetres thick, iPhone Air is the thinnest and lightest iPhone Apple has ever made. The frame is crafted from Grade 5 titanium, polished to a mirrored finish, and reinforced with ceramic shield panels on both the front and back. This makes it four times more crack-resistant than previous glass designs and three times more scratch-resistant than the first ceramic shield.

Apple says the design required a complete rethinking of the iPhone’s internal layout. The “plateau” at the top of the phone houses the cameras, speaker, and Apple Silicon, leaving room for a high-density battery that still provides long-lasting performance.

The phone comes in four colours: space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue, and is built with 80% recycled titanium, the highest ever in an iPhone.

The iPhone Air has a 6.5-inch OLED display with ProMotion up to 120Hz, always-on mode, and 3,000 nits peak brightness for better readability outdoors. The thinner body allowed Apple to stretch the screen size without adding bulk.

The new iPhone Air runs on the A19 Pro chip, Apple’s most advanced iPhone processor to date. Key improvements include:

  • CPU: Faster single-threaded performance and 50% larger efficiency-core cache, making everyday tasks more power-efficient.

  • GPU: Dynamic caching 2.0, double the 16-bit floating-point performance, unified image compression, and new neural accelerators in every GPU core, enabling 3x the AI compute power of the A18 Pro. Apple says this brings MacBook Pro–level GPU performance to an iPhone.

  • N1 wireless chip: Apple’s first in-house iPhone networking chip, supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Threadwith improved reliability for hotspot and AirDrop.

  • C1X modem: Apple’s latest modem is up to 2x faster than the previous C1 and 30% more power-efficient, making iPhone Air the most energy-efficient iPhone yet.

On the back, the iPhone Air features a 48-megapixel Fusion camera system. While it looks like a single lens, it integrates multiple functions into one module. Apple says it delivers the most popular iPhone photography features, optimized in a thinner form factor.

Indeed, it’s the one thing I feared from super thin phones, lets hope the recycled titanium holds up
