Apple Watch Series 11 vs Series 10: What Should I Buy?

Apple last week unveiled its new Apple Watch Series 11, which brings notable upgrades and refinements over last year’s Apple Watch Series 10. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what’s changed (and what hasn’t) to help you figure out if an upgrade is worth it:
Processing Power & Operating System
- Series 11: Powered by the S10 SiP chip with a 64-bit dual-core processor, runs watchOS 26.
- Series 10: Powered by the S10 SiP chip, runs watchOS 11, upgradable to watchOS 26.
Gesture Control
Both models support double-tap for one-handed use, plus wrist flick and standard gestures like tap and swipe.

- Series 11: Always-On Retina display with wide-angle OLED LTPO3 tech, up to 2000 nits peak brightness, with 1 nit minimum for ultra-low light use. Features Ion-X front glass on aluminum models (now 2× more scratch resistant) and sapphire crystal on titanium.
- Series 10: Always-On Retina LTPO3 wide-angle OLED display, up to 2000 nits peak brightness and 1 nit minimum brightness.
Siri Capabilities
Both watches feature fast on-device Siri for quicker, more reliable responses and health data access.
Battery Life
- Series 11: All-day battery life up to 24 hours, or 38 hours in Low Power Mode. Fast charging: up to 80% in about 30 minutes.
- Series 10: All-day 18-hour battery life. Fast charging: 0–80% in about 30 minutes.
Case Options
- Series 11: 46mm or 42mm sizes. Aluminum in Jet Black, Rose Gold, Silver, and Space Gray; titanium in Gold, Natural, and Slate. Slimmer and lighter than Series 10.
- Series 10: 46mm or 42mm sizes. Aluminum in Jet Black, Rose Gold, and Silver; titanium in Slate, Gold, and Natural.
Health Features
- Series 11: Adds Hypertension detection (pending FDA clearance, rolling out globally), Sleep Score with nightly ratings, plus existing features.
- Series 10: Available with watchOS 26 on Series 9 and later.
Both Series include:

- Series 10: 100% recycled aluminum or titanium cases, plus recycled rare earth elements and tungsten. Carbon-neutral band combinations also available.
Storage Capacity
Both models: 64GB
Price
- Series 11: Starts at $549 (Wi-Fi only, 42mm aluminum).
- Series 10: Discontinued from Apple–but still available on Amazon.ca for $488!
Bottom Line
The Apple Watch Series 11 may have the same processor as its predecessor, but it makes the biggest leap we’ve seen in a while by adding 5G connectivity, and Sleep Score, while also extending all-day battery life to a full 24 hours. The tougher display glass and improved scratch resistance will also appeal to those who push their watches harder.
That said, if you already own a Series 10, you may not feel compelled to upgrade just yet. But for anyone on a Series 9 or earlier—or anyone who values the new health features and longer battery life—the Series 11 is easily the smarter buy.
You can pre-order your Apple Watch Series 11 today, with in-store availability starting Friday, September 19, 2025.
