Rogers iPhone 17 Pre-Orders are Backordered and Delayed
Did you pre-order an iPhone 17 series phone from Rogers? The company has started emailing customers to note that iPhone 17 Pro orders are now on backorder.
According to an email obtained by iPhone in Canada that Rogers sent to customers on Monday, the subject reads, “Your new device is on backorder”. Rogers then says there’s an update on your device order and that the iPhone 17 Pro pre-ordered on launch day is now “currently on backorder.” The company then writes it sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
So what’s the update? Rogers says it expects more devices to arrive “in about four plus weeks”, informing customers they will get an email when their device ships along with a tracking link. “You can get updates at that time,” reads the email.
If you can’t wait for a new device, Rogers says you can switch to another model by calling their 1-877 number, or get instant 24/7 support with their new virtual assistant (that’s AI) called Anna.
“Thank you for choosing Rogers,” ends the email. According to iPhone in Canada reader John, Rogers is telling him that all carriers in Canada have backordered iPhone 17 devices, but that remains to be seen.
Now, Apple typically prioritizes new iPhone shipments for its own pre-orders first, then allocates stock to wireless carriers. So it’s always a gamble to expect a pre-order from a wireless carrier to deliver on the actual iPhone launch day. Rogers iPhone 17 and iPhone Air pricing is marked up slightly from Apple (about $50 or so), while financing options are available including bring-it-back contracts over 24 months.
Right now, the Rogers website is showing the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro as delivering in 1-2 weeks with standard delivery, if you order today.
You’re likely better offer pre-ordering from Apple if you can, if you want your new iPhone 17 or iPhone Air right away. Did you get an email from Rogers telling you your iPhone 17 series is now delivering in four plus weeks?
Besides offering the new iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, Rogers is also offering the Apple Watch Series 11, Ultra 3, SE 3 and AirPods Pro 3, starting on September 19.

Last year I ordered the iPhone 16 pro Max from Rogers the Day one. and I received the same kind of email saying the same deadlines. However, I received my iPhone by FedEx on the official day of the launch at 1:00 p.m.
Though I'm not engaging in new iPhone festivities…I'm very happy with my own 16 Pro Max…here's hoping people encounter the same good luck this year.
Same thing happened the year before that with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I don’t think their system is capable of handling pre-orders, so they mark them as backordered.
