New PlayStation 5 System Update Adds Ability to Pair DualSense to Multiple Devices

PlayStation has rolled out a system update for its PlayStation 5 console, adding the ability to pair the DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers to multiple devices simultaneously. The update is available now globally.
As revealed by the company, the latest system update addresses the pain point that, up until this point, a DualSense controller could only be connected to a single device at a time. Users would have to manually pair the controller every time it was connected to a different device, like a PlayStation 5, PC, Mac, or mobile device. This system update removes that requirement.
Users can now register up to four devices simultaneously on one DualSense controller. Afterwards, the controller can easily switch between them without having to pair them time and time again. With this ability, users can take their DualSense or DualSense Edge from their PlayStation 5 and use it on their PC to play games or connect it to a smartphone for Remote Play functionality.
By pressing a combination of the PS button and one of the face buttons (triangle, square, circle or cross), users can assign a device to the controller. It will then be assigned to that combination for future use. Three other devices can then be assigned, allowing one device to be paired per face button.
Once one or more devices are registered to the DualSense controller, you can switch between them by pressing the PS button and the action button corresponding to the device. This can be done when the controller is on or off as well.
Aside from the new DualSense feature, PlayStation is also adding a new option called ‘Power Saver’ to the console. With this turned on, supported games will scale back performance to allow the PlayStation 5 to reduce its power consumption. Power Saver will not affect performance if not manually enabled or if the game does not support the feature. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Demon’s Souls, and Ghost of Yōtei are confirmed to support the feature, with more titles on the way.
