OpenAI ChatGPT Adds Apple Messages Plugin for Mac Users
OpenAI has launched a new Apple Messages plugin for Mac, allowing ChatGPT to interact directly with your messages.
The feature lets users search through their message history, summarize past conversations, draft replies, and send texts directly from their desktop.
The plugin is currently available for desktop users on ChatGPT Work and Codex. Users can install the integration by navigating to Plugins, then selecting Public within the desktop app interface.
According to OpenAI, the integration enables a variety of automated workflows. Users can prompt the assistant to cross-reference their calendar to suggest available dinner times to a contact, recommend follow-ups based on yesterday’s texts, follow ups from texts, or scan messages for upcoming birthdays and add them to the calendar. You can even search for possible spam so you can delete it.
To prevent accidental messages, per-send approvals are enabled by default, requiring users to manually confirm any drafted text before it is sent out.
