iPhone 17 Pro Gets Wrecked, iPhone Air Amazes in Drop Tests

EverythingApplePro is back with his annual iPhone torture test, and this year he put the new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air to the ultimate stress challenge.
As usual, the video features scratches, heat trials, and extreme drop tests to see if Apple’s latest devices can withstand real-world abuse.
Right from the start, the iPhone Air showed signs of vulnerability. “Whoa. Oh my goodness. It’s already cracked,” he said after an early impact dropped the ultra-thin model onto shop tools. Aluminum edges on the Pro models also took a beating. “This aluminum is looking rough for the wear. Yeah, it’s cracked, but I don’t see any thin hairline scratches.”
The highlight of this year’s test was Apple’s Ceramic Shield 2, which is advertised as three times more scratch resistant. EverythingApplePro confirmed improvements, noting that despite heavy abuse, “the glass isn’t breaking… this glass is incredible.”
Still, both the Pro and Air eventually cracked after repeated high-drop tests, though the Air’s titanium frame held out longer than the aluminum Pro models.
The torture test also included a heat challenge inside a 200°F industrial oven. Surprisingly, the iPhone Air lasted longer than both the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max before shutting down. “The Air has outlasted the Max and the Pro,” he remarked. However, the Pro cooled down and bounced back faster once removed from the oven.
On drops, titanium proved its worth. “Even though it’s polished, titanium always handles damage very well,” he said after comparing dents and gouges between the Air and Pro. Aluminum absorbed hits and showed deep scratches, while the Air’s titanium frame repelled damage for longer.
Despite eventually cracking under a 20-foot drop, EverythingApplePro called the Air Apple’s most durable iPhone design yet, crediting the titanium chassis and improved Ceramic Shield 2 glass. “Yes, this glass is the real deal. The iPhone 17 Pro glass claims are true,” he concluded.
The verdict? The iPhone 17 Pro models take a step back in durability due to aluminum, while the iPhone Air lives up to Apple’s promises of a thinner yet stronger design, says EverythingApplePro.
