LiberNovo Omni Review: This Chair Beats My Steelcase and Herman Miller

I was sent the LiberNovo Omni chair for review (not paid or sponsored), and honestly, I was surprised at how comfortable it is. I’ve tried the Herman Miller Aeron and also owned the Embody, but this chair feels more comfortable and customizable. I currently use a Steelcase Leap (first gen), and the Omni tops that as well.
The Aeron is a standard in corporate offices, while the Embody hurt my butt after longer periods and just didn’t fit my frame well. The Steelcase Leap has been solid but the cushion has flattened over years of use (no, I’m not a big back).

The included headrest and footrest are both nice, but my favourite part is lying flat and using what they call the ErgoPulse Motor System. It powers the backrest up and down, which feels like you’re in a dentist’s chair and does wonders for relaxing your back and spine. I’ve even had some solid afternoon naps in it. The motor runs on a removable battery pack that charges by USB-C, which is convenient.

Here’s the LiberNovo on its own in midnight black:

Setup is straightforward (my kid assembled it easily), and the adjustability is solid. The supportive armrests move forward, back, side to side, and up and down. The 3D neckrest is detachable and easily adjustable. The cushion design spreads weight well, so it doesn’t hurt after sitting for long periods, and the multi-density seat balances firmer support at the back with softer foam up front to help circulation.
The chair was shipped with a missing piece that covers the tension knob, but that’s not a big deal to me, and they are replacing the missing piece when second batches ship:

Specs-wise, it supports users from 5′2″ to 6′3″ and up to 300 lbs. The recline goes from 105° all the way back to 160°, and the footrest helps make that usable. The backrest uses a “Bionic FlexFit” design with flexible panels and pivots that adapt to your spine, while the headrest (adjusts up/down and forward/back) uses a sponge memory foam for extra comfort. The chair ships in at about 30 kg and comes in Space Grey or Midnight Black.

The materials feel premium, with a layered backrest that mixes fabric, foam, and aerospace-grade resilient material. The base and electronics are BIFMA-tested, the frame has a 5-year warranty, and the motorized parts are covered for 2 years.
Below is the battery pack that powers the motor system. There’s a handle where you pull it out easily:

…from here, you just recharge the pack via USB-C. Battery life is pegged at 30 days if you use it once daily. I haven’t had to recharge the pack yet out of the box and I’ve had this chair for about a month:

Here is the footrest (there’s two levels of adjustment), which is a game-changer if you’ve never had one, with a comfortable pad on top to rest your legs when you’re fully reclined. It’s truly awesome and a joy to relax in:

Yeah, I looked like this dude at times:

If your chair is on hardwood, I highly recommend these chair stoppers to stop yourself from moving back. I’m reusing the same ones I used with my Leap with the LiberNovo.
Update Sept. 23, 2025: We have some more info on this chair as per LiberNovo. Starting today at 7pm PT/10pm ET (until October 20), the LiberNovo Omni presale will start at a discounted price of $848 US, which is $250 US off retail in Canada and the USA. New customers also get 5% off, taking it down to $806 US, plus they get a free gift pack that includes an eye mask, eco-bag, cat-scratch-resistant mat and foot cushion. Shipping will begin on October 20. Also coming is the LiberNovo Cooling Seat Cushion on presale, starting at $59 US (25% off its MSRP of $79 US) and will start shipping from October 1.
At $1,099 USD (about $1,519 CAD) for preorder, the LiberNovo Omni is not cheap (it’s half the cost of a new Embody), but the first batch has already sold out. The chair raised over CAD $12.2 million on Kickstarter with more than 10,000 backers, which shows the hype. Based on my experience, I get it—it’s a chair that combines comfort with real usability. This is a really comfortable chair and I look forward to sitting in it now everyday.
