OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Pulse, a Daily Personalized Feed

OpenAI has announced ChatGPT Pulse, a new feature that delivers daily updates tailored to each user.

Instead of waiting for people to ask questions, Pulse proactively pulls together information based on past chats, memory, and user feedback. It’s launching in preview for Pro users on mobile (those paying $200/month). Sadly, Plus users aren’t getting access to this new feature yet.

Each night, ChatGPT does background research and creates a set of visual cards with relevant updates for the next day. These might be follow-ups on ongoing conversations, quick dinner ideas, or reminders linked to longer-term goals like preparing for a race. Updates refresh daily, though users can save cards by adding them to chats or asking for more details.

Users can also connect Google Calendar and Gmail to provide extra context. With these integrations, Pulse might suggest meeting agendas, flag an upcoming birthday, or recommend restaurants for an upcoming trip. These connections are optional and can be turned on or off at any time.

Feedback plays a big role in shaping what shows up. Users can curate topics—asking, for example, for local events on Fridays or tennis news tomorrow—and fine-tune suggestions with thumbs up or thumbs down reactions.

OpenAI says all topics go through safety checks before appearing, and that the updates are “meant to work for you, not keep you scrolling.”

The company has tested Pulse with college students, who said it became more useful once they told ChatGPT directly what they wanted to see. One tester described receiving travel planning tips they “would have never come across or looked for otherwise.”

Pulse is still a preview and won’t always be accurate, but OpenAI says the feature is the first step in moving ChatGPT from a reactive tool into a proactive assistant. The long-term plan is for ChatGPT to research, plan, and take helpful actions in the background, with more app integrations and richer features expected down the line.
