How to Use Live Translation on iPhone [VIDEO]

Starting in iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe, you can translate text and audio on the fly using Live Translation in Messages, during phone or FaceTime calls, and in-person using AirPods and the Translate app.

Live Translation.

To use the Live Translation feature on your iPhone, turn on Apple Intelligence:

  • Update your iPhone and make sure it’s compatible with Apple Intelligence.
  • Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri, and turn on Apple Intelligence.

To use the feature, follow these steps:

  1. On your iPhone, tap the Phone app to start a phone call like usual.
  2. During the call, tap the More button, then tap Live Translation to translate your voice.
  3. Select languages for From and To. The first time you choose a language, the languages might take a few minutes to download.
  4. Tap Start Translation. You then hear spoken translations during the call. If you want to stop the translation, tap Translating [language] at the bottom of the phone screen, then Stop Translation.
