Apple Marks iPhone 11 Pro Max, Watch Series 3 as ‘Vintage’ Products
Apple has moved the iPhone 11 Pro Max and Apple Watch Series 3 to its “vintage” products category, meaning those items will receive more limited support going forward (via MacRumors).

Under Apple’s support policies, a product becomes vintage once it has not been sold for more than five years but less than seven years after its last distribution. When a device is classified this way, Apple and authorized service providers may continue offering repairs and parts only while supplies last.
The iPhone 11 Pro Max is now officially listed as vintage, though the iPhone 11 Pro (non-Max version) has not been added to the vintage list at this time. That suggests the standard Pro model may have remained available through some channels for longer. Despite its new vintage status, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is still compatible with iOS 26, Apple’s latest mobile operating system.
All variants of the Apple Watch Series 3 have also been designated vintage by Apple as of September 30, 2025. The Series 3 was first released in September 2017, making this shift about eight years into its life cycle.
The Series 3 remained available through Apple in some markets until September 2022. It was often positioned as a lower cost or entry model, even while new watch models rolled out.
Once a product is classified vintage, Apple may restrict repair services and parts availability. Apple and Apple Authorized Service Providers can continue repairing these devices, but only if they still have components in stock. For end users, this means that future hardware repairs could become harder or more expensive.

Apple uses its vintage and obsolete classification system to manage support over the long life of its hardware. A device typically reaches “vintage” status after Apple stops distributing it for five years. Once a model is out of distribution for seven years, it may be moved into “obsolete” status, at which point Apple stops offering hardware repair services at all.
