Amazon Luna Relaunch: Free Games, No Console or Controller Needed

Amazon is giving its cloud gaming service Luna a major overhaul later this year, adding a new lineup of social party games and expanding access to blockbuster titles—all at no extra cost for Prime members.

The redesigned Luna will introduce GameNight, a new section focused on living room play. Instead of requiring consoles or controllers, GameNight titles can be played on a TV using just a smartphone as the controller. Players join instantly by scanning a QR code, making it easy for family and friends to jump in.

At launch, GameNight will feature more than 25 games, including versions of Angry Birds, Draw & Guess, Exploding Kittens, Flappy Golf Party, Taboo, Ticket to Ride, and Clue. Amazon is also debuting an original title called Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg, an improv-style game where players act out courtroom characters while Snoop Dogg serves as judge.

In addition to party games, Luna will include a rotating catalogue of over 50 popular and indie titles such as Hogwarts Legacy, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, TopSpin 2K25, Dave the Diver, and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom. These are also included with Prime, though some require a controller.

For players looking for even more content, Luna Premium will continue to offer extra titles such as EA SPORTS FC 25, LEGO DC Super-Villains, Team Sonic Racing, and Batman: Arkham Knight.

Luna originally launched in 2022 and is now available in 14 countries, including Canada. Amazon says the relaunch is designed to lower barriers to gaming by removing the need for consoles or high-end PCs, while making play more social and accessible.

The updated version of Luna is expected to roll out to Prime members later in 2025.

Back in March of this year, Luna added EA games the line up allowing for easy cloud gaming.

As for the Amazon Luna Controller, it’s been slashed down by 44% to $49.99 in Canada for a limited time, along with some Luna and Fire TV Stick 4K Max bundles (save 44% as well).
