Rogers vs Telus vs Bell vs Freedom: Best Phone Plans October 2025

We’re into a new month so let’s compare bring your own device 5G+ plans from Rogers, Telus, Bell and Quebecor’s Freedom Mobile. It will be interesting to track pricing from now into the busy holiday period, which includes Black Friday and Boxing Day.

Bring your own device plans include autopay discounts when you set up pre-authorized payments.

Rogers

  • $70/100GB
  • $80/175GB Canada-US
  • $95/250GB Global (64 destinations)

The $70 plan now includes free Sportsnet+ for 3 months like the others. Rogers says the pricing above “ends October 6”.

Telus

  • $70/100GB (unlimited calls to 27 destinations)
  • $80/175GB Canada-US
  • $95/250GB Global (68 destinations)
  • 5G: $60/60GB
  • 5G: $50/80GB

Telus has a new annoying trick up its sleeve as it now enables “show discounts: existing customer with eligible Home Services” by default. In a nutshell, it’s showing discounted prices by default for those with existing internet, TV, home security or home phone, which is $15/month off.

Coupled with the $10 autopay, Telus is advertising “price includes savings of $25 with pre-authorized bank payments discount,” which doesn’t even mention the bundled savings until you click on “see details”.

This mirrors how the Rogers website defaults to showing pricing for 4 lines and bundled pricing.

Bell

  • $70/100GB
  • $80/175GB Canada-US
  • $95/250GB Global (65 destinations)

So looking at the straight bring your own device pricing and after autopay, who wins? It’s all the same right now from Rogers, Telus and Bell. Rogers has the edge with more destinations for its global plan, while the $70 Telus plan has an edge as it includes international calling and texting.

Okay so if you don’t want to go with the ‘Big 3’, there’s always Freedom Mobile:

  • $29/5GB Canada-US-Mexico + 1GB Roam Beyond
  • $34/10GB Canada-US-Mexico + 1GB Roam Beyond
  • $39/60GB Canada-US-Mexico + 5GB Roam Beyond
  • $49/100GB Canada-US-Mexico + 15GB Roam Beyond (ends October 6)
  • $59/150GB Canada-US-Mexico + 25GB Roam Beyond (ends October 6)
  • $69/200GB Canada-US-Mexico + 30GB Roam Beyond
  • $79/250GB Canada-US-Mexico + 35GB Roam Beyond

Freedom’s plans from $49/month and above require minimum 3 months, which isn’t exactly month-to-month. But pricing is definitely cheaper than Rogers, Telus and Bell as you get some included international roaming data.

Let’s see what plans will be like as we head into Black Friday in November.

I hate them all, zero customer service all AI. If Amazon can get sued for hiding cancellation buttons, these companies should see class action suits for making it physically impossible to speak with a human to fix a I paid but phone isn't working situation. Then telus charges $2 IF you can find a way to contact a human. Oh and stores won't help they say you have to call in. Way more easier of a class action case than amazon

You said “Rogers has the edge as their global plan has more destinations, but according to what you have listed, Rogers Global ($95, 250GB) has 64 destinations and Telus Global ($95, 250GB) has 68. Even Bell ($95, 250GB) has more at 65 destinations. The winner here is Freedom with their Global plan ($79, 250GB) and their 120 destinations. Their network isn’t as extensive, but on their higher tier plans, they have a “buddy” arrangement with other networks where they “Roam Like Home” on their bandwidth (in the Lower Mainland I think it is mainly Bell, but I have heard they also use Telus in some places). There can be some issues with network hopping, and prioritizing on other networks, but I haven’t had too much of an issue.
They also have been pretty reasonable with their customer service (at least recently).
That said, cellular in Canada is exorbitantly high compared to…well…any other country. In Taiwan for an example, you can get a plan with 100 minutes calling, but unlimited text and 5+G Data for around $40/month. Not much cellular voice calling (600 minutes/month for first 3 months, then 200 minutes/month), but most people use VoIP style calling (Line being the most popular)
