Microsoft Expands Copilot AI to Every Windows 11 Device
Microsoft is taking a bold step today to turn every Windows 11 machine into an AI-powered computer by weaving Copilot more deeply into the operating system.

With new features like voice activation, visual understanding, and agentic task automation, Microsoft aims to make AI interactions intuitive and broadly accessible on Windows 11.
Until now, many of these advanced AI capabilities were reserved for Copilot+ PCs equipped with dedicated neural processing units (NPUs). But Microsoft now says that the core features will roll out to all Windows 11 devices where Copilot is supported.
At the heart of this transformation are three major pillars: conversational input (text or voice), visual context awareness, and AI that can take action on your behalf. The new “Hey Copilot” wake-word lets the user speak directly to the PC to ask questions or issue commands. In parallel, Copilot Vision can “see” what’s on your screen, and guide you through tasks, suggest improvements, or clarify steps in apps.
Microsoft also previews the shift toward agentic AI: Copilot Actions enables the assistant to perform tasks such as creating documents, ordering things, or interacting with apps on your behalf. These new tools will begin arriving first in the Windows Insider channels, giving testers early access to experimental AI features.
Microsoft is also updating the taskbar so Copilot becomes a more fluid part of your daily workflow, with one-click access to voice, vision, and chat modes. The search experience itself has been refreshed to deliver faster results as you type, while respecting user privacy and not giving Copilot direct access to your files unless you grant it.

These changes arrive now as Microsoft officially phases out support for Windows 10, nudging users toward Windows 11 upgrades. The timing reflects Microsoft’s push to ensure new hardware and software experiences are rooted in AI from the outset.
