Firecore Brings Immersive Mode to Infuse 8.3 for VisionOS

Firecore’s Infuse 8.3 media-player app has introduced a brand-new Immersive Mode for VisionOS devices under the banner “Immersive Mode: ON,” marking the company’s latest push into spatial viewing environments.

With the new release, Infuse 8.3 opens the door to “immersive environments” when running on compatible hardware such as the Apple Vision Pro headset. An early pre-alpha build of the immersive feature is already in circulation via Firecore’s test programme.

The Immersive Mode allows users to position their video content within a virtual environment rather than simply watching on a flat screen. Early feedback suggests options such as adjusting the distance of the screen and scaling the display, offering a sense of presence inside the environment rather than just an app window.

Firecore’s decision to integrate this immersive environment aligns with the broader industry trend of delivering richer spatial media experiences on head-mounted devices. While Infuse has long been known for its ability to play a wide variety of video formats across Apple platforms including iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac, this step signals a deeper embrace of VisionOS.

Though Firecore refers to the immersive mode as “ON”, it is important to note that the feature is still tagged “in-progress” and appears limited in its current form. For example the default environment is described as a “black void” which Firecore acknowledges is a minimal placeholder for fuller theatre-style or 3D scenes planned in the future.

Users of Infuse who subscribe to the Pro tier will find the update available via the App Store and the existing subscription covers all compatible devicesm including VisionOS. Firecore also confirms that the update is free for all current users of version 8.x.

The release of Immersive Mode in Infuse 8.3 provides Apple device owners with a new option for how they watch content, and lays the groundwork for more advanced immersive features that may arrive in coming versions.
