Google to Select 15 ‘Superfans’ to Test New Pixel Phones

Google will reportedly select 15 “Superfans” to test its upcoming Pixel hardware well before an official release. As part of a “Trusted Tester program,” the company will allow select users to test the Pixe 11 series and beyond.

First reported by BloombergGoogle has invited select superfans to test upcoming devices all under a strict non-disclosure agreement (NDA). This is all being conducted under the Trusted Tester program content, where applicants can sign up for a chance to be chosen.

In the leaked rules, via the report, Google states, “The Trusted Tester program is an opportunity to provide feedback and help shape a Pixel phone currently in development.”

If selected, the applicant will be given early access to Google’s in-development Pixel devices. During this time, the participants will have to use the hardware in protective cases, provided by Google, to disguise them.

Participants are claimed to be selected based on “depth of knowledge and passion for Google Pixel devices and software.” Those selected will test Pixel dives and give feedback to Google. As of the time of writing, it’s not clear when selected participants will be chosen.

Google’s Pixel 10 series was released earlier this year. On August 28th, the company launched the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. However, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold was later released on October 9th. Thus, it’ll be a little while until Google officially releases its Pixel 11 devices. So, those who end up able to test the devices will have quite some time to give feedback to the company.

I should have applied the day I got the email, but I put it off figuring "I'll get to it."
I'm sure I wouldn't have been chosen anyway. Despite the fact that I keep my entire family equipped with Pixels and I'm the most tech savvy of the family (even more so than my millennial and Gen z sons), I highly doubt that a guy in his 60s is their preferred demographic for testing. 😄
