Dbrand iPhone 17 Cases and Screen Protector Review

Toronto-based accessory maker dbrand is back with new cases and accessories for the iPhone 17 series including the iPhone 17 Pro Max. They sent us the Ghost Case 2.0, Grip Case, Tank Case, and Prism 2.0 screen protector to check out. Here’s how they hold up after some first initial impressions.
Dbrand Ghost Case 2.0 – $49.95 USD
The Ghost 2.0 case feels like a refined take on the classic clear case. It’s slim, light, and fits the iPhone 17 Pro Max perfectly with no extra bulk. The black ring over the MagSafe magnets looks better than Apple’s usual white circle, and the edges sit nearly flush with the screen, making swipe gestures smoother.
I haven’t used it long enough to see if it truly avoids yellowing, but since the sides are made from black rubber, fingerprints and skin oils aren’t noticeable. It’s easy to grip and surprisingly light at 48 grams. dbrand claims it has 12 feet of drop protection — I didn’t drop-test it from that height, but it feels sturdy enough for everyday use.
This is a clean, low-profile clear case that feels premium and avoids the cheap-plastic look most clear cases have.
Dbrand Grip Case: X-Ray (Light) – $59.90 USD
The Grip Case lives up to its name—it’s almost impossible to drop. Thousands of tiny ridges across the surface make it feel secure even with sweaty hands. The edges are thin enough to keep gesture controls comfortable, and the fit is extremely tight.
What’s cool is you can get a custom skin to apply to the back. The X-Ray (Light) skin takes this iPhone 17 case to another level. You do need to install the skin onto the back of the case yourself, but it’s simple enough (you just need to line it up slowly) and dbrand has a helpful install video. The trickiest part, if anything, is the ridge for the camera bump, but it’s still very easy to install the skin.
The capacitive Camera Control button works well but feels unnecessary unless you actually use the feature. The clicky side buttons are excellent, with a satisfying mechanical feel. At 2 mm thick, it strikes a nice balance between protection and slimness, and MagSafe accessories stick firmly thanks to strong built-in magnets.
Overall, a solid all-around choice for grip and comfort. The extra camera button is a nice touch, but most users won’t miss it if they skip it. Click here to check out the Grip case on the dbrand website.
Dbrand Tank Case – $49.95 USD
The Tank Case is built like, well, a tank. It’s heavy-duty and obviously made for people who need serious protection — think construction sites or anyone who drops their phone regularly. The texture feels rugged, with plenty of grip from deep ridges and grooves.
The buttons are firm and clicky, and MagSafe charging works through the thick frame. The only downside is how tight it fits — removing the case can actually pinch your fingers. But that tightness also means your phone isn’t going anywhere.
Overall, ideal if you’re hard on your devices or work in environments where drops happen. Overkill for most people, but bulletproof for those who need it. Click here to check it out on the dbrand website.
Dbrand Prism 2.0 Screen Protector – $34.95 USD
This is easily one of the best screen protectors I’ve installed. The Prism 2.0 installation tray makes alignment fool-proof, and the kit includes two protectors plus everything you need for a clean setup—alcohol wipe (there’s 4 total), microfibre cloth, and a fabric-tipped squeegee that’s not just a piece of rubber.
Bubbles disappeared quickly, and the fit is perfect edge-to-edge. It doesn’t add any haze or distortion, and fingerprints wipe off easily. There’s an oleophobic coating on the glass screen protector and it can withstand up to 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness.
With its flawless installation, great clarity, and zero frustration. It’s rare that a screen protector stands out, but this one does. You can click here to check out the Prism 2.0 2-pack.
Final Thoughts
dbrand’s lineup for the iPhone 17 Pro Max continues to impress. The Ghost 2.0 and Grip Case are best for everyday users, the Tank Case is for anyone who needs serious protection, and the Prism 2.0 screen protector is a must-have for easy, bubble-free installs.
All four products show dbrand’s usual attention to detail, with a snug fit and high-quality materials throughout. The Toronto-based company also puts care into its packaging–it’s sturdy, well-designed, and a step above the flimsy boxes most accessories come in. For those who like to support Canadian brands, dbrand remains a local option. Prices are listed in USD, and while they’re on the higher side, the quality and presentation make it feel worth the premium.

They should already sell in CAD for buying in Canada not in USD
This has been asked and answered. Over 50% of their sales are from the US/outside of Canada despite being headquartered here, so business sense dictates USD. When you buy from them your bank will convert appropriately.
