Threads Launches ‘Ghost Posts’ That Disappear After 24 Hours

Meta is rolling out a new feature on Threads called ghost posts, which automatically disappear after 24 hours. The feature lets users share thoughts or quick takes without worrying about them sticking around permanently.
Replies to ghost posts will go directly to a user’s messaging inbox, and only the original poster can see who liked or replied. To create one, users simply toggle on the ghost icon when posting.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted on Threads today to say, “introducing Ghost Posts. They’ll stick around for just 24 hours.” You can see a dotted outline around his post to note it’s a Ghost Post. On profiles, you can see a section for Ghost Posts as well.

The move gives Threads a more casual, real-time feel—similar to Instagram Stories. It follows recent updates like long-form text posts of up to 10,000 characters and tools for hiding spoilers. Again, this is another feature to get users to stay hooked inside Threads.
Meta says it plans to continue adding features that make Threads more flexible and conversational.
