Apple Joins The Game Awards Advisory Board Ahead of 2025 Event in December

Apple has joined the Advisory Board of The Game Awards. The update was made quietly to the website and was first spotted by VGC this week. Apple is now the 14th member of the Advisory Board.
The Advisory Board “helps guide and advance the mission of The Game Awards,” according to The Game Awards. Apple’s involvement means that it’ll sit next to an already strong lineup of companies within the industry, including Activision, AMD, EA, Epic Games, Kojima Productions, Microsoft, Nintendo, Riot Games, Rockstar, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Tencent, Ubisoft, and Valve.
As a member of the Advisory Board, Apple will have no impact on The Game Awards nominees, the winners or know the final results ahead of the show. The Game Awards winners are ultimately chosen by a jury comprised of media and publications. Thus, the Advisory Board nor The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley impact the final results.
This year, Apple has reaffirmed its investment in gaming. As part of its iOS 26 refresh, the company created the Apple Games app, unifying its on-device gaming experience for iPhone. The app includes a UI for the game library, a social feed for players to interact with, as well as Apple Arcade. This year, Apple also acquired RAC7, the two-person game studio behind Sneaky Sasquatch.
The Game Awards returns this year on Thursday, December 11th. Once again, it’ll be held live at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California. However, the event will also be live-streamed through the official channels. Last year’s award show broke records with 54 million livestreams, marking a 31% increase compared to the 2023 show.
