Animal Crossing Prepares Big Move to Nintendo Switch 2 This January

Nintendo is bringing Animal Crossing: New Horizons to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, launching January 15, 2026, alongside a free content update for all players on both the original Switch and Switch 2 systems.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Animal Crossing: New Horizons adds higher-resolution graphics up to 4K in TV mode, mouse-style controls using the right Joy-Con 2 controller for indoor decorating, and a new megaphone item that lets players call out to island residents using the system’s built-in microphone.
The game will also support online play for up to 12 players and a new CameraPlay feature, which allows video chat using a compatible USB camera (sold separately).
Players can buy the full Switch 2 version for $89.99 CAD, or existing owners can purchase a $6.99 CAD upgrade pack. Pre-orders for the upgrade are open now on the My Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop.
On the same day, both versions of the game will receive a free update introducing a new resort hotel run by Kapp’n’s family, where players can design guest rooms and browse new furniture and clothing at the souvenir shop.
Other additions include:
- Home storage expansion up to 9,000 items, including trees and plants.
- Resetti’s Reset Service for easier island cleanups.
- Slumber Island, a Nintendo Switch Online feature where players can create up to three custom islands and collaborate with friends online.
- In-game collaborations featuring Nintendo consoles, LEGO items, and support for The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon amiibo.
Update: A previous mention of the beta showing up at Paris Games Week was incorrect. We regret the error apologize for any confusion.

This is the first place I've seen info about a beta and Paris Games Week. What is the source for this please?
I see the article has removed the reference I mentioned above. Should there not be an editorial "update" to the article about this?
