Amazon Music Integrates Alexa+ for Smarter AI-Powered Music Discovery

Amazon is expanding the reach of its next-generation AI-powered assistant, Alexa+, by integrating it directly into the Amazon Music app on iOS and Android. The company said this update “brings a whole new way to discover, search, and enjoy your favourite music,” redefining what it means to engage with digital music assistants.

Launched in Early Access earlier this year, Alexa+ represents a major leap forward from the standard Alexa assistant. It leverages generative AI and contextual awareness to deliver more natural, conversational experiences across Amazon’s ecosystem. The assistant can already manage schedules, control smart devices, and interact with entertainment apps. Now, its integration with Amazon Music makes exploring and enjoying music more personal than ever.

With Alexa+ in the Amazon Music app, users can engage in natural dialogue that “mirrors talking with a knowledgeable friend about music.” Customers can dive deeper into genres, uncover artist influences, explore discographies, and even ask complex questions like “What’s this song about?” or “What artists inspired this track?” Amazon says users with Alexa+ have explored three times more music and listened to 70% more songs compared to standard Alexa users.

The update also enables Alexa+ to create customized playlists tailored to specific moods or activities. For example, users can request “a playlist for driving along the Pacific Coast Highway at sunset” or “relaxing songs for my dog but with R&B vibes.” These playlists are fully dynamic, meaning users can rename them, add new tracks, or save them for later.

Alexa+ Early Access users can start using the new AI features by updating their Amazon Music app and tapping the “a” icon in the lower-right corner. Amazon says it will expand availability to more customers soon.

This rollout follows Alexa+’s closed beta debut in Canada last month, after first launching in the U.S. back in March. As Amazon continues to refine Alexa+ and its integration across apps, the assistant is being positioned as a central part of the company’s AI strategy — one that blends natural language, personalization, and entertainment in new and intuitive ways.
