Wealthsimple Is Giving Away $175K in Gold — Here’s How to Enter

Toronto-based fintech Wealthsimple is giving Canadians a chance to win big—literally. Wealthsimple is running its 2025 Solid Gold Giveaway, where one winner will take home a 1-kilogram gold bar worth over $175,000.
Other prizes include ten 1-ounce gold coins valued at about $5,500 each, fifty 1/10-ounce coins worth $550 each, and 5,000 prizes of $5 deposits.
The contest is open to new and existing Wealthsimple clients across Canada, including Quebec. To enter, participants must complete a Portfolio Survey and have at least $1 in a Wealthsimple account. Each dollar deposited earns one entry, while referring a friend who signs up and deposits also adds 20,000 entries.
Sharing posts on social media with the hashtag #WealthsimpleGold or submitting a 100-word essay titled “My Portfolio Diversification Strategy” can also increase chances of winning.
Entries are open from November 5 to December 5, 2025, and deposits must remain in accounts until February 5, 2026. Winners will be announced on February 9, 2026. The grand prize winner can choose to keep the gold or receive its cash value in their Wealthsimple account.
Wealthsimple says no purchase is necessary to enter, though participants must open or have an existing account to claim their prize.
At last month’s ‘For Nerds Only’ event, Wealthsimple announced new and upcoming features, which included gold trading for the first time. Canadians can trade gold 24/7 with as little as one dollar. The company even minted their own gold coins that customers can purchase. This gold contest looks to be an extension of that announcement last month.
