Bell Suffers Outage in Mississauga After Infrastructure Fire [Update]
Some Bell customers in Mississauga, Ontario, are still experiencing voice service problems following a fire that damaged part of the company’s infrastructure over the weekend.
“Some customers in Mississauga, Ontario may be experiencing a service interruption due to a fire within parts of our infrastructure,” Bell said in a statement on Sunday night, November 9, at 9:24 p.m. PT. “We are working to restore services as safely and quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
By early Monday morning, November 10, Bell confirmed that most services had been restored. “Services have been restored for customers in the Mississauga area. If you are still having issues, please contact us at support.bell.ca. Thank you for your patience,” the company said at 4:39 a.m. PT.
Earlier today, Bell noted that some customers continued to face voice service interruptions. “Some customers in Mississauga, Ontario may be experiencing a voice service interruption requiring hardware replacements due to power outages from the previous infrastructure fire. We are working to restore services as quickly as possible,” the company said in its latest update.
Some customers have asked Bell what is exactly going on with hardware replacements and the timeline. We’ve reached out to Bell for comment and will update this story accordingly. We now know the hardware replacement is in the building that caught fire, so customers don’t need to replace any hardware in their homes.

Update Nov. 10, 3:48pm PT: A Bell spokesperson told iPhone in Canada in a statement they are “still investigating the root cause of the electrical fire, which temporarily caused a power outage in one of our buildings in Mississauga.” On Monday afternoon, Bell confirmed power has been restored, and customers are already back in service. “There is nothing customers need to do at this time,” said Bell.
