Valve’s Biggest Hardware Reveal Yet: 3 New Steam Machines

Valve has officially announced three new additions to its hardware lineup—the Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and Steam Frame—all launching in early 2026.
The announcement came through a YouTube video today, where Valve described the new products as part of a “family” of Steam hardware built for seamless gaming across devices.
The Steam Controller has been completely redesigned with trackpads, gyro controls, and magnetic thumb sticks for improved precision and durability. It features capacitive sensors for motion-based aiming and over 35 hours of battery life on a charge.
Each controller comes with a “Puck” magnetic charger that also serves as a wireless adapter, making pairing and charging easier than ever. It works across multiple platforms — including PC, Mac, Steam Deck, and smartphones — and connects via Bluetooth or wired USB.
The Steam Machine is a compact gaming PC optimized for living-room play. Valve says it’s 6x more powerful than the Steam Deck, powered by a custom AMD GPU that enables 4K gaming at 60 fps with FSR support. It runs SteamOS, supports expandable storage via SD cards, and includes features like fast sleep/wake, customizable LED lighting, and quiet performance.
Valve also announced Steam Frame, its next-generation wireless VR headset designed for both VR and non-VR Steam games. The headset supports camera-based tracking, includes controllers with magnetic thumbsticks and full finger tracking, and can run games directly or stream them from a PC using a dedicated Wi-Fi 6 connection. It also features expandable microSD storage for downloaded titles.
All three products run on the company’s SteamOS. Valve confirmed it’s expanding its Deck Verified program to cover both Steam Machine and Steam Frame, helping users understand how well their games will perform on each device.
Valve says all Steam hardware is designed to work “like best friends,” playing smoothly together whether users are streaming or gaming across devices. The company also emphasized that, true to its philosophy, everything remains part of an open PC ecosystem—meaning the new lineup will work with third-party gear as well.
