Fire TV Adds Alexa+ Scene Jump Feature to Prime Video

With the help of Alexa+, Amazon Fire TV users can now jump directly to specific scenes in movies on Prime Video simply by describing what happens, without fast-forwarding or trying to guess timestamps.

Under the new “jump-to-scene” capability, Fire TV users only need to speak to Alexa+ as they would to a friend. By naming a character, quoting a memorable line or describing an event, for example, saying something like “jump to the scene in Red One where Santa flies over the city,” the system will locate and play that exact moment.

This convenience comes from advanced AI technologies powered by Amazon Bedrock and large language models such as Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude. The system leverages Prime Video’s existing X-Ray metadata, subtitle tracks, and visual-understanding to match a user’s verbal description with a specific point in the video.

The scene-finding feature is available now for thousands of movie titles on Prime Video. It supports both titles included with a Prime membership and films that users have purchased or rented. Amazon says it also plans to broaden support over time by adding more movies and extending the functionality to TV shows as well.

This update comes after Amazon first introduced Alexa+ at its fall hardware event, where it rolled out AI-powered upgrades to Fire TV devices and new smart TVs from partner brands. In that announcement Amazon emphasized a shift toward more conversational interaction, letting users ask for content in natural language, request recommendations, or explore additional details like cast info or soundtrack data.

Over the longer term, the update could reshape how people consume streaming media. As content libraries expand and streaming services grow more diverse, convenient navigation like this may become a must-have feature.
