Sony Pictures Core Channel Now on Prime Video in Canada

Amazon has added a new subscription channel called Sony Pictures Core to Prime Video in both Canada and the United States. The add-on gives subscribers access to a curated lineup of Sony movies and TV shows, all streaming directly inside the Prime Video app.
Sony Pictures Core includes a mix of classic and well-known titles. In the U.S., movies like Goosebumps, Jerry Maguire, and Ghostbusters II are available. In Canada, titles include 21 Jump Street, Men in Black 3, and Hotel Transylvania. Both countries also get older TV series such as I Dream of Jeannie, Charlie’s Angels, and Party of Five. Some films will stream in IMAX Enhanced for viewers with supported devices.
The streaming service originally launched in April 2021 as Bravia Core, built exclusively for Sony’s high-end Bravia XR TVs. It was designed to showcase Sony’s movie catalogue using “Pure Stream” technology, which delivers extremely high-bitrate 4K HDR playback that can reach Blu-ray-level quality. The service bundled movie credits and timed access to an unlimited streaming catalog for new TV buyers, positioning it as a value-add rather than a standalone subscription.
Back in October 2023, Sony rebranded the platform as Sony Pictures Core and expanded it beyond TVs to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, letting console users buy or rent Sony films and, in some cases, access a rotating selection of titles through PlayStation Plus.
The add-on costs $6.99 per month in Canada. Since it’s built into Prime Video, no extra app is needed. Subscribers can find the channel by searching for “Sony Pictures Core” in Prime Video and signing up from there. Cancellation is available anytime.
