Apple Rolls Out Online Version of Manufacturing Academy
Apple Manufacturing Academy, the advanced manufacturing initiative by Apple, is now offering its training online to small and medium-sized businesses all across the United States.
Previously the Academy operated only in-person from its facility in Detroit. Starting December 8, 2025, the Academy has launched a virtual curriculum designed to help companies adopt modern manufacturing practices and advanced technologies.
The Academy’s Detroit facility opened in August 2025, in partnership with Michigan State University (MSU). Through that Detroit campus, Apple and MSU have provided hands-on training and consulting to businesses across the country.
Now, the first phase of online training has gone live. The virtual courses cover a broad range of advanced manufacturing topics including automation, predictive maintenance, quality-control optimization, and machine-learning with vision systems. In addition to technical training, the program offers professional development content such as communication and presentation skills.
Apple describes the new offering as a free resource for U.S enterprises wanting to build internal capacity and modernise operations. The digital format allows companies that could not travel to Detroit to now access the same curriculum at their convenience.
The expanded reach of the Academy fits into Apple’s larger commitment to U.S manufacturing and domestic innovation. Through its wider manufacturing initiative, the company aims to strengthen supply chains across U.S-based suppliers.
Since its Detroit opening, the Academy has supported more than eighty businesses located in states such as Florida, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, and Utah. The virtual rollout is intended to build on that early momentum and make advanced manufacturing skills accessible regardless of geographic location.
