OnePlus Pad Go 2 Unboxing: Battery Life Is Absolutely Insane

OnePlus has revealed the core hardware for its upcoming Pad Go 2 tablet, which arrives in Canada on December 17. The company is pitching the tablet as a budget-friendly option built for schoolwork, entertainment and everyday multitasking.

The Pad Go 2 runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300-Ultra, an octa-core processor made on a 4nm process. OnePlus says the chip should deliver smooth performance over time and has passed third-party fluency tests.

Here are some unboxing photos of the OnePlus Pad 2 Go:

Battery life is one of the tablet’s biggest features, touts OnePlus. It has a huge 10,050mAh battery that supports 33W SuperVOOC fast charging. The estimates include up to 15 hours of video watching, 53 hours of music playback or about two months of standby time, which is impressive on paper. The device can also act as a power bank through reverse wired charging. In comparison, the 13-inch iPad Pro with its larger display has a 10,310 mAh battery and has 10 hours of video playback.

The display measures 12.1 inches with 284 pixels per inch, 900 nits of peak brightness and 98 percent DCI-P3 color coverage. It uses a 7:5 aspect ratio and an 88.5 percent screen-to-body ratio, giving more room for reading documents and viewing content without constant zooming. It supports Dolby Vision and includes eye-comfort features certified by TÜV Rheinland. The layout ties into OnePlus’ Open Canvas software, which is built for multitasking with split-screen tools and easy window switching.

OnePlus also outlined details for its new Stylo, the first stylus made for the Pad Go lineup. It’s designed for writing and drawing and supports fast charging—ten minutes plugged in delivers enough power for roughly half a day of use.

So some early first impressions? The design of the Pad Go 2 is simple and feels like it’s a quality build when held in the hand. The design here reminds me of an iPad. The tablet feels like it’s well built and not an entry tablet.

More information about the tablet is expected on launch day in Canada and the U.S. on  December 17.
