New iFixit App Might Be the Only Repair Tool Your Phone Needs

iFixit has released a new mobile app for iPhone and Android, giving users easier access to repair guides, parts, and diagnostics directly from their devices.

The app is available now on both the App Store and Google Play, marking the company’s return to mobile after being removed from Apple’s platform back in 2015.

iFixit was removed back then because Apple banned its developer account after the company posted a teardown of a pre-release Apple TV, violating Apple’s developer agreement.

The new app brings together iFixit’s full library of repair guides and adds several features that weren’t available on the web. One of the standout additions is a battery lifespan tool that tracks real-world battery capacity and offers predictions on when a replacement will likely be needed. The feature is still in beta because different devices report battery health in different ways, but iFixit says it works with most popular models.

Another major feature is FixBot, an AI-powered repair assistant trained on iFixit’s community repair data. Users can describe a problem by voice or text and get step-by-step help or troubleshooting suggestions, which is useful when both hands are busy or covered in dust mid-repair, explained founder Kyle Weins.

The app also recognizes your device and can surface the correct part and repair guide immediately. Instead of searching through model numbers or browsing multiple sites, the app shows the replacement parts that match your device and checks compatibility before you order. All of iFixit’s repair guides are included, complete with photos and walkthroughs, along with the ability to save your devices for quick access later.

The updated video editor, which is now the default on Android, also lets users add music and text to clips when documenting repairs or creating tutorials.

For anyone who relies on iFixit’s repair ecosystem, the new app brings everything into a single interface: guides, diagnostics, parts, tools, and now a conversational repair assistant. It’s available today on both platforms.
