Ahead of its official release in 2026, the Nintendo Switch 2 Virtual Boy accessory is now available for pre-order in Canada.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Virtual Boy can now be pre-ordered from the Nintendo website for $109.99. The accessory is only available to paid Nintendo Switch Online members. This is largely due to its use being tied to Nintendo Switch Online’s access to Virtual Boy classics. The device is also exclusive to Nintendo’s store, so it’s unlikely we’ll see other retailers sell the device anytime soon. The Nintendo Switch 2 Virtual Boy officially launches on March 17, 2026.
Nintendo is also offering a cheaper alternative to the replica accessory. A cardboard model of the Nintendo Switch 2 Virtual Boy is also available for pre-order for $29.99. For this option, Nintendo will not supply replacement parts or repairs if the cardboard model becomes damaged over time.
The Virtual Boy accessory was revealed earlier this year during a Nintendo Direct. A near replica of the original hardware, the Nintendo Switch 2 Virtual Boy is designed to play classic games like Teleroboxer and Galactic Pinball. Much like the library of Game Boy titles and N64 games, Nintendo will be continually adding new Virtual Boy games to the Nintendo Classics library over time.

An annual subscription to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack is available for $63.99 in Canada. Additionally, Nintendo offers a 12-month Family Membership, including up to eight accounts, for $99.99.

It isn’t a near replica of the original hardware, it’s a replica of the original CASING. The original hardware had screens and processors, it was a console. This is just a plastic casing that houses the switch 2 which does the processing and display.
