The Game Awards 2025 were held in Los Angeles last night, celebrating the gaming industry and its many developers. The annual ceremony gave out awards to some of the biggest and largest games released this year. On top of that, the night gave way to many exciting announcements for titles expected in 2026 and beyond.
This year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from French studio Sandfall Interactive made a sweep across the ceremony. Of the 13 nominations, the game walked away with 9 total awards, breaking records. The game stole the spotlight and ultimately took the ‘Game of the Year’ award during The Game Awards 2025. The game is a spin on the JRPG formula, heavily inspired by titles like Final Fantasy and Persona, with many mechanical strings tied to Super Mario RPG. Additionally, other marquee games from the year were also given their flowers. Games such as Battlefield 6, DOOM: The Dark Ages and South of Midnight were recognized quite heavily throughout the event.
The Game Awards 2025 was also home to many announcements, including the debut trailer for Mega Man: Dual Override, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, and Control Resonant.
